The AP reports that yesterday in federal court, the White House disclosed that older "computer hard drives have been destroyed," the latest revelation in the controversy surrounding missing White House e-mails from 2003-2005.

The White House said that a court proposed e-mail recovery plan stemming from lawsuits brought on by the National Security Archive and CREW would be worthless because "[w]hen workstations are at the end of their lifecycle and retired … the hard drives are generally sent offsite to another government entity for physical destruction."

Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

I recall scenes from cinema movies where top polititians or people from big corporates or mafia gang run to clamp down at computers to get rid of saved data that might get them imprisoned.

The criminals in this administration, including those at the top, have a lot to hide, and even though they usually feel above the law while in power, they want to cover their behinds from any prosecution they might face during the next administration.

while in power

''While in power'' for 8 years is the essense of all evil that came over America at the last few years.

Some people are thinking that US leadership after 9/11 has learnt a lesson from the dictators in the middle east and applied it recklessly.

This lesson is to use ''being in power'' for long time in controlling the future policies by inacting liberty violating laws , and other weird laws that,s keeping them out of law suits and by rigging the election to keep their clones in power.

And they,ve learnt that giving the deaf ear to the masses makes their anger over hot issues fade away by time.

Cheney implied, on his most recent trip to the Middle East, that he really doesn't give a damn what the American public thinks about their policies and the war in Iraq. They've already shown that they don't care what the world thinks. They have subverted our laws and our constitution, and made a mockery of international law, which they feel doesn't apply to them.

They need to be brought to justice, here and in the world courts, but it will never happen, I'm afraid, because they've managed to cover their asses, thanks to the tactics of fear they have mastered, and an impotent Congress, which won't hold them accountable for their actions.

Elect a Congress that will do the right thing then. Ask your candidate if they believe criminals should be punished. Then make them punish the criminals

And what let them make a sudden swerve from the traditional American liberties and democracy and what made them destroy the good reputition US has earnt worldwide after WW2?

I am still believng the notion that they liked the example of Arab dictators who could rake in huge money and ignore the public opinion audaciousy - isn,t like Cheney?-
and they noticed that those dictators can lie to people safely , and decree violating laws to protect themselves ,
and first of all ,nothing is happening to them.
